The July farmers market was one for the books, and I was thrilled to have my family with me, including my mom, who came out for another market. Seeing her enjoy the festivities and watch me in my element is always a joy. This market was by far the hottest on record, with the temperature soaring to a whopping 98 degrees. Despite the heat, my treats passed the temperature test with flying colors.
Here’s what I brought to the market:
- Pound Cake Delights: I kept the menu light with two flavors – Pina Colada and Strawberry Amaretto. Both were topped with a cream cheese glaze, and I only displayed two of each flavor at a time to keep them fresh and cool. The cooler did an excellent job, and no ice was needed.
- OG Classic Cake: This was the debut of the OG Classic, also known as the Original Gangsta cake. This cake holds sentimental value, and you can read all about it in my “OG Classic Cake” blog. To ensure it stayed intact, I cut the cake cold before heading out to the market, which was a smart move because the icing and cake warmed naturally and held up beautifully.
- Peach Cobbler: I brought peach cobbler in these cute little jars that were visually appealing and quickly sold out because the peachy juiciness was irresistible.
- Cookies: I brought everyone’s favorite chocolate chip and Buttercrunch cookies. They were perfect in the summer heat and stayed in great condition. I also had a new cookie display that held 14 packs of cookies at a time.
Even though my desserts handled the heat well, I had a rough time dealing with it. I was pouring sweat, using hand sanitizer, and almost an entire roll of paper towels to wipe my face and cleanse my hands. It was crazzzzzzzzy!
As always, I enjoyed seeing my regular customers and meeting new ones. Despite the challenges, the experience was sweet and memorable. Until next time,
Krystal XO
